Together for a Safer Tomorrow
On Tuesday, 24th June 2025, the Benue State Council on Climate Change, in partnership with Cheerful Hands Initiative and other committed NGOs, launched a vital Flood Awareness and Sensitization Campaign to empower flood-prone communities in Makurdi. Areas Reached were Achusa, Gydo Villa, Wurukum (Angwa Jukum behind the State Library). These locations were selected based on their vulnerability to flooding during the rainy season. Activities carried out were: - Community meetings and talks with residents - Distribution of flyers and educational materials - Interactive sessions on proper waste disposal and drainage maintenance - Demonstration of safety tips during flooding emergencies. - Led interactive sessions on waste disposal and drainage care Every conversation sparked awareness. Every step taken was toward resilience.
